A screen printed illustration of hummingbird moths gathering among some bee balm.
Bee balm is one of those plants that will always bring a huge grin to my face when I come across it. Given to me by a dear friend in a wildflower bouquet years ago, after going for a summer swim in the river. I was mesmerized and delighted by these incredible flowers, and it further ignited a desire to learn about all the things blooming around me here in NC. Also known as Monarda, Bee Balm grows wild in meadows and woodlands of North America, and plays a crucial role in supporting pollinators. Bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds are drawn to its nectar-rich blooms, making it a vital source of food for these essential creatures. Just as bee balm attracts a diverse community of pollinators, our own communities are equally important for our well-being. Both remind us of the magic of fostering and cherishing these communities to maintain a balanced and sustainable world.
