About

Needlebone offers art and clothing handmade with care and intention.
This practice is an invitation to give myself permission to explore, embrace, and carry forward making things with my hands.  The inclination to make things has been passed down from my grandmothers, skipping a generation and luckily landing in my lap.

Besides feeling like an important part of my heritage, I make because it is  sacred.  It is literally ancient but so crucial to our survival still to this day.  It has certainly been crucial to my survival, and I am so grateful for it. When things seemed impossible, when I lost myself, or the world felt unbearable, creating something out of nothing has always done the trick.
The work done here is inspired by the act of noticing, slowing down, resilience and memory.  I am committed to small batch production, and using natural materials and dyes whenever possible.

PROCESS

I try to have my hand in every part of the making process, which allows me to offer low impact clothing options using natural and ethically sourced materials.  All prints are hand drawn and designed, and printed by me, and I also cut and sew everything in house.  What I make comes in small batches, and for now I am happy with that.  I aim to keep making as a way to bring beauty into the world, and as a means of learning, deepening my connection with myself and those who came before me.  Making with my hands feeds me, but I recognize there are things in myself that need to be treated gently in order to emerge stronger and more self-aware as well.
